Will Colombia repeat the electoral case of Chile?

May 10, 2023
1 min read

The resounding defeat of the president of the Left of Chile Gabriel Boric has been received with jubilation by the Colombian right and with caution by the members of the coalition of President Gustavo Petro, given the possibility that the Chilean effect is present in Colombia in the elections of October.

In this regard, the Centro Nacional de Consultoría conducted a survey for NotiCentro 1 CMI, these are the results.

In yesterday's elections in Chile, the right won the left of President Gabriel Boric. From what you have heard, do you think that the same thing could happen in the October 29 elections in Colombia for mayors and governors, that is, that the right beats the left of President Petro?

  • He does believe that the right will win in October: 48%.

  • He does not believe that the right will win 29% in October.

  • Don't know, no answer: 23%.

This is the technical sheet.

Interesting parallel between Chile and Colombia here. The piece made me think about how much image and perception shape electoral outcomes, which is also why clean, believable visuals matter so much in campaigns. Tools like blenvero (https://blenvero.com) make it easy to merge two photos into one cohesive image with matched lighting and scale, handy for campaign creatives and before/after boards.

Interesting read on how Chile's electoral shift might echo in Colombia. It reminded me of how quickly patterns can flip once the data is laid out clearly — which is exactly what PixelBeads does for images: upload a photo, pick a palette, and export a printable chart at https://www.pixelbeads.io/

This is an incredibly sharp and balanced political analysis. The parallel drawn between Colombia's swing voters and Chile's electoral volatility is spot on. Honestly, reading through these heavy socio-political trends always gives my brain a massive workout lol. Whenever I get a bit overwhelmed by the complexity of Latin American politics and just need a quick, low-effort way to unplug, I love heading over to minigame to play some mindless browser games. It’s a perfect mental palate cleanser. Thanks for the brilliant read, CNC!
