The electoral competition to choose the new mayor of Bogotá has undergone notable changes in recent times and seems to be a close race. The intention to vote has fluctuated due to various political dynamics, proposals and alliances at stake.
Elections are scheduled for October 29, in which 1,102 mayors, 32 governors, 418 deputies and 12,072 councilors will be designated, in addition to 6,513 councilors.
For the Mayor of Bogotá, the candidates are: Carlos Fernando Galán, Diego Molano, Juan Daniel Oviedo, Gustavo Bolívar, Jorge Enrique Robledo, Rodrigo Lara and the former director of the Police, General (r) Jorge Luis Vargas.
How is the intention to vote for the Bogotá Mayor's Office going?
The survey carried out by Invamer in June placed Juan Daniel Oviedo as the main contender for Mayor, with a solid 31.1% support, followed by Gustavo Bolívar with 17% and, very close, Carlos Fernando Galán with 16, 2 %.
However, a second edition of the Invamer survey, carried out in July, revealed that the intention to vote for Oviedo had decreased to 27.5%. In that same period, the candidate Diego Molano managed to increase his support from 2.3% to 6.4%.
Gustavo Bolívar, representative of the Historical Pact, is in the second position in terms of voting intention. According to Invamer data in June, Bolívar registered a support of 17%, a figure that has experienced some fluctuations, reaching 16.1%, and then rising to 17.4% today.
Carlos Fernando Galán, who is presenting himself as a candidate for the mayoralty of Bogotá for the third time, obtained in July a range of voting intentions that oscillated between 16.1% and 18%. However, in August, this percentage has increased, now standing between 20% and 22%.
For July, the survey of the Centro Nacional de Consultoría (CNC) indicated that Oviedo still maintained his leadership, although with 22% support, while Galán began to gain ground with 18%.
The August polls have offered a new perspective. the survey of CNC, Hired by Semana and carried out from July 31 to August 3, revealed a change of preference. Now, Carlos Fernando Galán leads with 22%, and joins that of Guarumo and EcoAnalítica, which also confirmed Galán's rise with 20.8%.

In this panorama, the intention to vote has been reconfigured, with Galán at the head, closely followed by Gustavo Bolívar and Juan Daniel Oviedo. In the range of 10% to 10.6% is Rodrigo Lara, followed by Diego Molano, Jorge Robledo and one of the most recent to confirm his candidacy, the retired general Jorge Luis Vargas.
Barely three months before the elections, more changes in the metrics are anticipated, since the debates and electoral propaganda spaces have yet to begin with force to define who will be the new mayor of Bogotá.
