Bogotá hosted the Compliance V Forum, a prominent event that focused on promoting the culture of regulatory compliance. During this important meeting, various key actors participated, and the survey entitled "Perception of citizens and businessmen on regulatory compliance" was presented, carried out by the Centro Nacional de Consultoría.

This survey was carried out with the participation of men and women over 18 years of age who resided in different types of housing throughout the Colombian territory and belonging to all socioeconomic levels. Its main objective was to gather opinions on the current situation of regulatory compliance in Colombia and the future perspectives of this practice.

Results of the survey on public perception of compliance

When asked about the main reason for compliance in companies, 68% of those surveyed answered that it is because it is the right thing to do and benefits everyone, while 13% mentioned that it brings benefits to the companies.

Regarding knowledge about compliance or regulatory compliance, more than half of those surveyed (64%) admitted not being familiar with the term, while 29% said they were familiar with it, especially in large companies.

Regarding the existence of an area or a designated person to identify, advise, alert, monitor and/or report on risks in companies, 64% indicated that they did not have this function, while 29% responded affirmatively. 7% did not know or did not answer this question.

Regarding the use of tools or software to quantify risks, 76% of respondents said they did not have such tools, while 21% said they had tools to assess risks.

The survey also collected the future perspective in terms of the importance of addressing financial, sanctions and reputational risks in companies. 42% considered that it is necessary to make greater efforts to comply with the regulations at various levels.
