Juan Daniel Oviedo is shaping up to be strong in the upcoming elections on October 29 in Colombia that will define the next mayor of Bogotá, the second most important position in the country, according to surveys by Invamer and Centro Nacional de Consultoría (CNC).

The survey carried out by Invamer had the objective of measuring the intention to vote of the inhabitants of the city of Bogotá for the next mayoral elections in 2023. The field work was carried out with 21 pollsters and 600 surveys were carried out in the city.

Invamer asked: “If the Bogotá mayoral elections were held tomorrow and the candidates were the ones that appear on the ballot, which of them would you vote for?” On the list of options, Juan Daniel Oviedo leads with 27.5% support, followed by Gustavo Bolívar with 16.1%, and Carlos Fernando Galán with 15%. Enrique Peñalosa, the former mayor of Bogotá, obtains a 10.9% vote intention.

It is important to note that Gustavo Bolívar has not yet officially confirmed his candidacy, since he pointed out that two issues still need to be specified to reach the nomination. Apparently, he is working on programmatic agreements with the other candidates before making a final decision.

On the other hand, Enrique Peñalosa has not made the official announcement of his candidacy either, although it is rumored that he is considering the idea, especially after the challenge posed by Gustavo Bolívar, who seems willing to confront him.

Oviedo continues to lead the intention to vote for the Mayor of Bogotá

Galán expressed on his Twitter account: “Today I confirm my aspiration to the Mayor of Bogotá. With the lessons of the past and the illusions of the future, I want to be mayor of the city that I know best and love the most. We are going to return Bogotá to the citizens.”

In third place is Gustavo Bolívar with 16%, followed by Jorge Enrique Robledo and Rodrigo Lara with 6% each.

The survey also inquired about the preference or sympathy towards political parties, showing that 9% of those surveyed lean towards the Liberal Party, 8% towards the Democratic Center and 3% towards the Colombia Humana Party.
